This Russian-Lithuanian dictionary is built mainly on the material of the modern Russian literary language, including a significant number of special terms (with appropriate marks) from various fields of science and technology, which increasingly appear on the pages of magazines and newspapers (highly specialized terminology, as a rule , was not included). The dictionary contains many examples illustrating the meaning of individual words, their use, as well as many phraseological units, proverbs and sayings. The dictionary includes many obsolete words and dialectisms found in literature, it also contains colloquial and even some roughly colloquial words and expressions (vulgarisms). Here we take into account the linguistic facts recorded in Russian explanatory dictionaries, as well as the requirements for such a dictionary by practice in the Soviet republic.

With the help of a dictionary, you can read fiction, as well as journalistic and popular science literature.

Russian and Lithuanian words in the dictionary are accented, Lithuanian words are given with intonation indication (рgiegaidė). The dictionary is mainly intended for Lithuanians, so it only provides grammatical characteristics of Russian words.

The main sources of this dictionary are Russian and Lithuanian lexicographic publications (see the list of lexicographic sources); the author's own collection of lexicographic material was also used, which is the result of a comparison of a number of translations of fiction and textbooks from Russian into Lithuanian.

Dictionaries of all 3 Baltic republics are available (such as Lat - Rus and Rus - Lat. Only Lithuanian-Russian is not available).
