The dictionary includes about 53,000 headwords, reflecting the vocabulary of the modern Latvian literary language. A significant place in it is devoted to scientific and technical terminology used in special texts. The dictionary also includes a number of obsolete words, folklorisms and ethnographisms found in Latvian modern and classical literature. Headwords are richly illustrated with examples - phrases, phraseological units, idioms and terminological combinations. The dictionary contains many examples illustrating the meaning of individual words, their use, as well as many phraseological units, proverbs and sayings. The dictionary includes many outdated words and dialectisms found in literature; it also contains colloquial and even some roughly colloquial words and expressions (vulgarisms). Compared to the previous one, this publication is, unfortunately, only slightly larger in volume, depending on the framework set by the publishing agreement. Of course, the latest popular vocabulary from all branches of science and spoken language is included, which the author constantly and carefully observes and which he collects from all possible sources available to him. Typos that crept into the previous edition have been corrected, and favorable and business suggestions received from consumers have been taken into account. The control of verbs has been significantly expanded in the dictionary, without which their use presents difficulties for consumers.
