The Prado Museum in Madrid is one of the most significant, both in terms of quantity and quality, art collections, which houses paintings from the main European schools of painting from the 15th to the 18th centuries. The museum offers visitors the richest and most complete collection of Spanish painting in the world - the work of such brilliant masters as El Greco, Velazquez, Murillo, Goya and many other artists. The works of Italian, Flemish and German painters also found their place here. Today, the museum can be proud of masterpieces by Titian, Rubens, Tiepolo, Bosch, Dürer, Correggio, Van Dyck, Lorrain and other famous artists representing the main painting schools of Europe. The museum owes this constellation of names primarily to the taste and artistic culture of Philip II and his grandson Philip IV.
