Black mollies (Poecilia sphenops) is another popular member of the Pecilia family. In fact, fish with such a color do not exist in nature, this color form was obtained in the USA in the late 20s of the 20th century, a little later, in the post-war period in Singapore, as a result of hybridization with latypin or velifera, the “lyra- molly" - black mollies with a lyre-shaped tail. Wild sphenops mollies live in both fresh and brackish water bodies located on a vast territory, the northern border of which includes south Texas and northeast Mexico, and the southern border stretches along the Caribbean part of Colombia and Venezuela. Such a vast range, including zones with very different natural conditions, suggests the presence of many local forms of this species, the natural coloration of which varies markedly depending on the habitat.
