Apistogramma agassizii (Apistogramma agassizii), also known as torch apistogram, is one of the most brightly colored representatives of the genus apistogram, a distinctive feature of which is the caudal fin, shaped like a candle flame. The apistogram of Agassiz has an elongated, slightly laterally flattened body. The lateral line is broken, its upper part passes very close to the back. More or less clearly visible dark stripes are common, running from the eye to the mouth and to the lower edge of the gill cover, as well as to the caudal fin. Coloration varies depending on habitat.
