Copper naphthenate is an active ingredient used primarily in industrial and commercial wood preservation for non-pressure (dip/brush/spray) and pressure (vacuum/full cell) treatments to protect against fungal rot, rot, termites and woodworms in untreated wood and various wooden products. This preservative is also used for in-service reconditioning of supports including interior/exterior surfaces at or below grade using a brush/trowel, mechanical injection, or bandage. Copper naphthenate treated wood is suitable for exterior use above ground, in ground contact, underground and in fresh water contact. Copper naphthenate is also used as a protective surface treatment preservative when applied to bare, seasoned wood. To this end, it is available to the general public and sold over-the-counter to consumers as wood preservatives and water repellents.
