The manual "X-ray diagnosis of pulmonary tuberculosis" is intended for radiologists and phthisiatricians. It was compiled on the basis of a course of lectures and classes on X-ray diagnostics of pulmonary tuberculosis, which were conducted by the author over a number of years at the cycles of advanced training for doctors at the Central Institute for the Improvement of Doctors and at the Central Institute of Tuberculosis of the USSR Ministry of Health. The manual is divided into general and specific parts. The first general part briefly outlines the significance of the achievement of the x-ray method in the diagnosis and clinic of pulmonary tuberculosis, the basic laws of skiology, the methods of x-ray examination in pulmonary tuberculosis, x-ray pictures of a normal chest in various projections, and the method of reading and recording x-ray data in pulmonary tuberculosis. The second special part describes the X-ray pictures of individual forms of pulmonary tuberculosis according to the clinical grouping (classification), which is accepted in the Soviet Union for children and adults. The presentation of radiographic symptoms is based on pathoanatomical data and clinical manifestations with various course options and outcomes in modern specific therapy. Given the difficulties in recognizing tuberculosis processes, the description of each clinical form includes the main differential diagnostic signs, which are compared with manifestations of other pulmonary diseases.
