Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting with the head of the Anti-Corruption Agency Askhat Zhumagali. He reported on the activities carried out to combat corruption. According to Akorda's Telegram channel, Zhumagali said that since the beginning of the year, 947 corruption crimes have been registered, 660 offenders have been exposed, among which 104 were managers of various levels. Criminal cases were completed with compensation of 193.5 billion tenge. Since the beginning of 2022, the state and the quasi-public sector have managed to return assets worth 1.03 trillion tenge. This year, 113 reports on analysis and monitoring in the fields of education, science, sports, medicine procurement, construction and land allocation were prepared; state bodies were offered more than 1 thousand recommendations on eliminating corruption factors. Also, through monitoring the portal «Single Window of Procurement», it was possible to prevent inefficient use of the budget in the amount of more than 31 billion tenge. Within the framework of the «Bizneske Zhol» project, the rights of about 7.5 thousand entrepreneurs were protected, 67 problematic issues were resolved. Zhumagali also reported on measures to eliminate corruption in the road sector. It is planned to implement a pilot project to control the expenditure of funds in socially significant areas, such as road construction. Since January of this year, 4 memoranda of cooperation have been signed with the anti-corruption authorities of Qatar, Hong Kong, Azerbaijan and Russia, aimed at strengthening partnership in legal support, asset recovery and monitoring of budget funds. Recall that in February of this year, President Tokayev proposed «coloring» money to fight corruption in the construction industry. He noted the importance of this step for controlling spending and improving the quality of construction. It was instructed to scale projects for digital tracking of funds. Last November, Zhumagali reported on the work of the anti-corruption service; recently, the agency confirmed the launch of an investigation against the chairman of the Aktau City Court, stating that appropriate investigative actions are being carried out. Details of the detention were also made public and corruption in the field of road repairs was reported.
