According to representatives of the Mangystau Regional Children's Hospital, there were four schoolchildren in the car at the time of the accident. As a result of the incident, two of them – born in 2008 and 2009 – were killed. One victim is in serious condition in intensive care, while the second did not need to be hospitalized and was sent home, doctors said. Police officers of the Mangystau region claim that a criminal case has been opened on the fact of traffic violations or the operation of vehicles by persons driving them. The investigation is ongoing, but additional information is not disclosed in the interests of the investigation. Article 345 of the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan provides for punishment for causing harm to health or death of a person due to careless violation of traffic rules or operation of vehicles.
