Hot-rolled steel sheet Description According to the production method, rolled steel sheet is divided into hot-rolled products and cold-formed products. Hot-rolled steel sheet is made on rolling mills by heating the original billet and driving it through several stands with flat rolls. The next rolls have a smaller gap compared to the previous ones, so the steel sheet gradually acquires the desired thickness. Classification of hot-rolled steel sheet According to the thickness of the resulting steel products, thin-sheet (0.4-3.9 mm) and thick-sheet (4.0-160.0 mm) steel are distinguished. Sheet steel can be used as a final product or as a blank for the production of various products. So hot-rolled steel sheet is often used for the manufacture of shaped steel in the form of a corner, a channel, an I-beam. Hot-rolled metal has a width of 500 mm and is produced in sheets with a thickness of 0.4 to 160 mm and in coils with a thickness of 1.2 to 12 mm. According to the rolling accuracy, a hot-rolled sheet with a thickness of up to 12 mm is divided into products of increased accuracy (A) and normal accuracy (B).
