Travels in Central Asia 1st edition! in excellent collectible condition. 12 illustrations with an embedded map of the region of that time. In 1864, Vambery (a Hungarian Turkologist) published a book about his travels - "Journey through Central Asia", which aroused great interest in Western Europe, Russia and North America. It has been translated into almost all European languages. Readers could not but be interested in A. Vamberi's difficult and dangerous journey through Central Asia. The value of the Hungarian traveler's book also consisted in the author's knowledge of the basics of the Muslim religion, local customs and oriental languages, primarily the languages of the Central Asian peoples. Therefore, in Europe, little familiar with Central and Central Asia, the work of A. Vamberi was enthusiastically accepted.
