A sound card is an interface card; used in multimedia computers for audio processing. The sound card can convert speech; music and other sounds from microphones; radios; tape recorders; CD players and other equipment into digital signals for computer processing and save them as files. It can also reconstruct real audio signals from digital signals. The interface at the end of the sound card protrudes from the back of the case and has interfaces for connecting microphones; speakers; joysticks and MIDI devices.
