The 10;1MP Lumix DMC-FX520 is Panasonic's first digital camera with a 3-inch LCD touchscreen and is a very compact camera for advanced features. While the touch screen may attract some buyers; Photographers will be more attracted to the P shooting modes; A; S and M; as well as a Leica DC wide-angle lens; which supports 5x optical zoom and covers a focal length range from 25mm to 125mm (35mm equivalent). Rugged brushed metal body in black or gray; The FX520 has a retractable lens. The front panel features a stainless steel finger bar; and on the back there is a thumb pad with indentations. The thin built-in flash is slightly off-center; and not directly above the lens; to reduce the risk of red-eye when shooting with flash. The battery and memory card compartment is located at the base of the camera; and the metal-lined tripod socket is located on the opposite end of the base (not an ideal position).
