The story “Heart of a Dog” is one of the most famous and memorable works in the work of Mikhail Bulgakov. With inimitable sarcasm and humor, Bulgakov described the unprecedented risky experiment of Professor Preobrazhensky to transform a dog into a man, creating a magnificent parody of the paradoxical situation of Soviet Russia in the 30s. The brutal experience of breeding a new “breed” of people shows that one cannot experiment with nature with impunity and change God’s Providence to suit political goals. The offspring of such experiments are capable of destroying their creators.

The book includes two adventure novels by the Soviet writer V.D. Ivanov (1902-1975) “On the Trail” and “The Return of Ibadulla.”

Alonov, a livestock specialist on one of the Trans-Ural collective farms, is sent to the steppes in search of new pastures. In the steppe, he meets a group of strangers who are trying to kill him. He has to fight with them (“On the Trail”).

Ibadulla, returning to the homeland of his fathers, falls into a rockfall in the mountains. Shepherds find him and send him for treatment. Having recovered, he begins to enter the life of Soviet Central Asia. Meanwhile, on the territory of Pakistan, the Anglo-American intelligence services are developing a reconnaissance and sabotage operation against the USSR. (“Return of Ibadullah”).

D. Swift's satirical novel is one of the greatest works of world literature. In this book, the writer cruelly ridicules the state structure, social orders and morals of contemporary bourgeois-noble England, denounces the parasitism, hypocrisy and self-interest of the rich. Many pages of the book have not lost their satirical sound to this day.

Fedor Fedorovich Tyutchev (1860-1916) - democratic writer, son of the wonderful Russian poet F. I. Tyutchev. He devoted many years to military service and visited remote regions of Russia.
The proposed collection includes two works by Fyodor Fedorovich Tyutchev: the autobiographical novel “Who is Right?”, which tells about the difficult fate of the writer, and the “Caucasian” action-packed novel “The Fugitive,” which tells about the everyday life of the border service.
