Shoe wire type PS is used for attaching cardboard insoles and leather insoles to lasts. In the process of attaching the insoles to the wire pads, vertical staples are formed, which are driven through the insoles into the plugs located on the bottom surface of the pads. The wire for attaching insoles is made by flattening round wire; its cross section has the shape of a rectangle (with sides of 1.07 and 0.63 mm) with rounded edges.
PG type wire is used to attach the tightening edge of the upper during staple tightening and to attach the tightening edge of the upper to the lip of the welted insole. In both cases, the tightening edge is attached using staples formed from the corresponding wire during the operation of the tightening machines. The wire is made by drawing a larger diameter wire through sizing dies, its cross-section having the shape of a circle.
