The book, which is a photo encyclopedia, introduces the reader to the world of fashion, talks about the historical and artistic environment from ancient times to 1970.
The history of clothing from ancient times to the present day is like a mirror in which the entire history of mankind is reflected. Each country, each people, in certain periods of its development, leaves its mark, its specific features on people’s clothing. Therefore, “The Illustrated Encyclopedia of Fashion” is of interest to anyone who is interested not only in the history of costume, but also in history in general. The book is divided into two parts: the first covers the period of costume development from the 4th millennium BC to the eighties of the twentieth century, the second part contains a detailed list of individual parts of clothing, fashionable additions to it, hairstyles, etc. The text is supplemented by reproductions of works by famous and sometimes little-known masters of painting and sculpture, from which we can trace changes in fashion over more than five thousand years, as well as drawings and photographs from contemporary fashion magazines.
