Book 1 describes public methods of home self-healing that were widely used among the peoples of Russia in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when it was difficult or even completely impossible for the main peasant population of Russia to receive medical care on time. The book provides brief information about more than 500 different illnesses, illnesses and accidents, about the care of the sick and about the methods of their treatment with the help of folk, home, sympathetic and cheap pharmacy remedies collected by O.A. Morozova.
