The EF 100mm f/2 USM is fast; but relatively compact. The 100mm focal length allows the photographer to maintain a comfortable distance from the subject; and also compresses perspective. Clear; sharp images at any aperture setting. Fast f/2 aperture Fast f/2 aperture delivers amazing low-light shooting speeds; no flash. Shooting at such a wide aperture takes away the sharpness of the background; emphasizing the subject of the image more. Smooth background blur Aperture with a nearly circular aperture makes the blur of those parts of the image smoother; which are out of focus. This allows you to highlight on a smooth; blurred background objects in focus; which are in the foreground.Ultrasonic focusingThe ring-type ultrasonic drive allows for fast and virtually silent autofocus. Thanks to the excellent characteristics of the lens, precise focusing is achieved. Manual focus correction, available at any time, is possible without turning off autofocus.
